Finnsøn Founder Tips: What to Pack in Your Changing Bag

Let’s be honest, as parents, getting out of the door can be a challenge. One minute your baby needs something, and you’ve forgotten to grab something essential for the day. What was once a matter of grabbing the keys and getting gone has turned into a 30-minute ordeal...
Don’t worry! In this article, we’ve got a complete list of what to pack in your changing bag to keep you prepared for whatever life throws at you. We also recommend some of our favourite changing bags because, of course, you’ll want to look endlessly stylish as well as be organised.
The changing bag checklist
Nappies. Carry between 4-6 for a day out and include a spare pair of pants if your toddler is potty trained.
Wipes. Take a pack or two and you can use these to wipe surfaces, clean your baby’s hands, and deal with any inevitable messes throughout the day.
Bio-degradable nappy bags… Because green parenting is the way forward.
Hand sanitiser. Often overlooked, this allows you to keep your hands clean after nappy changes and feeds.
The Kari changing mat. This is eco-friendly, wipe-clean and quilted for extra comfort. It also comes complimentary with our larger changing bags!
Milk. Taking ready to feed infant milk is often much easier than carrying water and powder.
Bibs. These are easy to forget, but essential for keeping that cute little outfit clean.
A spare change of clothes. Speaking of outfits, it’s best that you take a change of clothes or two for your little one and even for yourself.
Muslin. This is ideal for breastfeeding or, since they’re usually more absorbent than bibs, wiping up if your little one’s messes.
A dummy or two… Because we all know what a nightmare it can be to be out without one of these!
Baby food. If you’re weaning your little one, pack some ready made food or pouches to keep feeding easy while you’re on the go.
Snacks, snacks, snacks… And don’t forget some for yourself as well as your toddler!
Toys. Our kids loved taking books, sticker books, cars, dollies, and colour books out when they were younger. We’d also recommend Dobble and Burger Balance for older children.
Osten stroller clips. These will attach to your bag to the buggy so you can go hands-free.
Thermometer, Calpol and plasters. You never know when you might need these so we carry them with you at all times!
How to organise your changing bag
Our bags are designed with organisation in mind, but a few extra tips you should consider are:
Opt for waterproof pockets to keep wet and soiled clothes separate especially when taking baby swimming.
Categorising the contents of your bag to keep related items (e.g. nappies and wipes) together.
Folding and layering up your baby’s blankets, changing mat, spare clothes, etc. to maximise space and find what you need more easily.
