4 Top Tips for Setting Up Your Babies Nursery

1. Lighting
The first thing to look at for your baby's nursery is lighting. For the first few months the baby will be waking at various times throughout the night so soft lighting is a must. A night light is a great addition to a baby's room. There are many night light options, with some changing colour to the room temperature. Are you aware that many baby monitors have a nightlight and room temperature indicator on them? A great feature to look for when purchasing a baby monitor.
2. Sleeping
When looking at sleep options for a baby, why not look at a cot bed? If you have the room this is a great purchase as it will cover the next 4 & half years of your baby's sleeping, as when you're ready it will turn into a toddler bed. Cot beds are suitable from birth as they have 3 height settings. It is recommended to always use a mattress protector and never use the same mattress for another child. The cot/cot bed should be placed away from windows and radiators.
3.Baby Changing Area
Set up a baby changing area, there are a lot of different options for changing tables, some have handy drawers or shelves. Additionally, it is handy to have a changing bag close by for overstock essentials I recommend Finnsøn’s IDA Eco Holdall Changing bag. This is ideal as then you can keep everything to hand.
If using a changing table it is a good idea to get a wedge mat to stop baby rolling. *Baby must never be unattended when using a changing table as they can move fast!
If short of space, a cot-changing top is a great idea and can be put away when not in use. I used a changing caddy, where I kept everything I needed, wipes, creams, nappies and extra vests and I would take it around the house with me.
4. Feeding Chair
A comfortable feeding chair is a must as it will be invaluable during those night feeds. There is a large range of feeding chairs with rocking or recline options, many also come with footstools, if possible try them out before you buy or it's good to get recommendations from friends & family. Another option is If you already have an extra comfortable chair then you can move into the baby's nursery.
